Psychiatric services are a critically important component to the core of behavioral health services provided by NRVCS. Our psychiatric services team serves both children and adults and includes board certified psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and a pediatrician.
The psychiatric services team performs psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and/or behavioral consultation services.
Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the study and treatment of mental disorders – which include various affective, behavioral, cognitive and perceptual disorders.
Psychiatrists often practice psychotherapy, but they are also doctors—that is, they have earned a medical degree. Our team also includes nurse practitioners that are registered nurses with advanced nursing education and training in the diagnosis and management of common psychiatric illnesses. This expertise allows the psychiatric team to more profoundly understand the medical scope of a patient’s condition and prescribe medications if it is an appropriate treatment.
The psychiatric team at NRVCS provides a comprehensive array of recovery-oriented services for individuals diagnosed with a mental health and/or substance use disorder. NRVCS also contracts with other physicians and nurse practitioners from time to time to augment services.
